Pure & Jeremy

Pure and Jeremy chose one of Southern California's most beautiful civic landmarks for their June wedding. Pasadena City Hall, with its Mediterranean dome, endless arched colonnades, and quiet courtyard gardens, gave their day the feeling of a European palace, an easy drive from Downtown Los Angeles.

We photographed the two of them through the arcades in the soft afternoon light, her lace gown and white bouquet against the warm stone, his classic black tuxedo sharp in every frame. The long corridors and repeating arches do half the work at this venue; the other half is simply the way a couple looks at each other when the day finally arrives.

As the sun dropped, the sky behind the dome turned amber and rose, and we made the photograph that anchors this journal: the two of them framed by the arches with the tower glowing behind them. Pasadena City Hall asks for nothing but good light and a couple in love, and this day had both.
